Film school didn’t teach me how to obtain all the various permissions I need to release me from liability for sharing feature film content in my next short doc–especially for ‘Educational Purposes, ‘ fair use.
So that’s what I’ve been teaching myself lately. Once I gather enough information, I plan to call an Entertainment Attorney I know and see if he will work for me pro bono. Good luck lady.
If I had a budget, I wouldn’t be as stifled, but I don’t. Even trying to locate an actor’s agent requires a fee to get their name from a database. Get real lady.
And not only will I need a SAG release, but I’ll need a release from the Director’s Guild, the Writer’s Guild, the Music Composer and owner of the copyright of the film! Big bucks required per clip. I’m still wondering and hopeful; can I make this for free? Good luck lady.
I’m certain the film I’m making is ‘Educational.’ Let me be free to create. Let me tell a short, engaging story, about a man of integrity who deserves to be recognized for his lifetime of devotion and knowledge of his self-taught work.
